I have under taken my first guitar and must say that we need more sites like this one to get a good look at the art. Most carpenters are too proud to go to a luthier school to learn this stuff, so the web is a great place to learn from people in very similar situations. Thanks for all the hard work.

Bummed to hear about your loss. I am so glad she had a peaceful and loving passing. Perhaps Bear is chasing her in a frolicky fun kind of way in a backyard somewhere in the place it is where they go. I bet Shiner is there too.

I am a little choked up. Floyd was a special creature. I am glad that you were able to celebrate her and enjoy her. Marble is getting up there in years, and it reminds me to enjoy every day with him.

Elias, I’m no expert as I have never painted a guitar. I think there are two schools of thought, you either mask off the binding before hand, then paint, and then remove the masking tape leaving you only a little bit of clean up, or you just paint the whole body and then carefully hand scrape the paint off the bindings afterward using the edge of a razor blade or something similar.
Lots of people do it both ways, just a matter of preference.
