Howdy folks, it’s time for another quick weekend roundup. This past weekend was our first we’ve had in while where we didn’t really have to be anywhere or do anything. We did some stuff around the house, worked in the yard a bit, got the vehicles some much needed oil changes…fun stuff like that.
Maya moved into her new place up near Fremont St. in North Portland. We were sad to see her go, it was great having her around and Anna was really smitten with her by the end. When I get Anna dressed and put her hair up, she always asks to look in the mirror or go show Mama…by the end of last week though she was asking “go show Maya?”. Somehow we ended up with no pictures of Maya and Anna together…don’t know how that happened…For now we just have this picture of Anna saying “Bye Maya, thanks for staying with us”!
Another fun event this weekend was the Rosebud Transplant softball victory party at our friend Kathy’s house. Kathy lives right down the street from us, and she always has fun parties. We had a little BBQ, some baggo was played, and Anna ran around until close to 10:00. Nicki and Maya took her home and I stayed on for the late night festivities.
Late night festivities included, among other things, a game of musical chairs.
When was the last time you played musical chairs at a party?
For me it had been a very, very long time.
Apparently though, people should play musical chairs more often because we had a lot of fun.
So much fun, in fact, that soon the police were knocking at the door.
If anyone else has ever been involved in a game of musical chairs that ended in a visit from the police, please let me know. Otherwise I’ll have to assume that this was a first.
Saturday morning, after helping Maya get the last of her stuff over to her new place, we made a couple of quick stops along the Portland City Chicken Coop Tour. It’s basically an informal event where people with chickens open up their backyards to visitors and show off their chickens and coops. Anna was getting pretty tired by the time we got going, so we only stopped at a couple. This one pictured here was great, and is along the lines of what we may try to do for the future. They essentially have a bunch of raised beds, and a lightweight coop that fits the dimensions of the bed, so the chickens can be rotated through the beds when they are fallow.
So long for now. Got to load up the bike trailer and head out to the farm to pick up the veggies for the week.
